Main uses of p-tert-butyl phenol
1. P-tert-butyl phenol usually replaces n-butanol as solvent for paints and drugs. Used as a fuel additive in internal combustion engines (to avoid carburetor freezing) and as an antiknock agent. As intermediates in organic synthesis and alkylation raw materials for the preparation of tert-butyl compounds, methyl methacrylate, p-tert-butyl phenol can be prepared for the synthesis of drugs and spices. Dehydration of tert-butylphenol can produce isobutene with a purity of 99.0-99.9%. It is used as a solvent for industrial washers, pharmaceutical extractants, insecticides, solvents for waxes, cellulose esters, plastics and paints, as well as for the consumption of denaturing alcohols, perfumes, fruit flavors, isobutene, etc.
